General Tips on Promoting NCHC by Joan Digby and Debra Holman

#1 If you will be attending an upcoming conference or gathering for the organization and would like to share information on NCHC with people who might be interested, let us know, and we’ll forward you documents you can use in spreading the word.

#2 Submit presentation proposals to that organization which contain an "honors slant" when you plan to attend the organization's meetings or conferences. If your proposals are accepted, you can help expand the understanding on the linkages between NCHC and the other organization.

#3 Submit article proposals which contain an "honors slant" for publication in that organization's journals or other print documents. This will help other folks learn more about possible linkages between honors and that organization's work.

#4 Let us now if you read an article about honors education in a journal or newsletter for other organizations that you belong to. We can then spread the word via the NCHC listservs to help connect NCHC folks to these additional discussions on honors education. Better yet, post news of such articles on the NCHC listservs yourself to spread the word.

#5 If you are actively involved in another professional organization in education for which you think some more formal linkages with NCHC might exist, let us know. You can contact the NCHC External Relations Committee co-chairs at Joan.Digby@liu.edu or debra.holman@unco.edu, respectively.

#6 As a referral and reference tool, if you don't already own the current edition of Peterson's Smart Choices: Honors Programs & Colleges make sure to pick up a copy and familiarize yourself with it. (It's available at a reduced rate from the NCHC national office.) The guide is an invaluable resource and one that you can readily advise others interested in NCHC to check out for themselves. Not only does it provide profiles of honors programs and colleges throughout the nation, but it also includes detailed information on NCHC.

Thumbs up Re: General Tips on Promoting NCHC

Thanks. This was really helpful to me and it has given me some things to keep in mind when preparing honors proposals for conferences.
