SRHC Partnership with UAB University Honors Program Adopting Sanctuary as Regional Journal
Mike Sloane provided a proposal for an SRHC partnership with the University of Birmingham?s University Honors Program expanding the UABUHP literary journal, Sanctuary, to be a shared publication managed by UABUHP producing one volume per year utilizing a blind review selection process. Discussion of Sloane?s printed proposal led to approval by the SRHC Executive Committee. Sanctuary, the annual literary and arts magazine of the University of Alabama Birmingham University Honors Program was adopted as the Southern Regional Honors Council regional journal, and the publication will now accept submissions from students or faculty of SRHC member institutions.. The motion approving this arrangement called for including SRHC student and faculty representatives on the editorial board. SRHC member institutions will receive at least five complimentary copies of the journal each year, with the option to purchase other copies at a discounted rate. $2000 per year for three years was committed to support this partnership beginning with the 2008-2009 conference year.
